Greenlans's National Park

Greenlans's National Park

The largest national park in the world. It's 972,000 square kilometers with 18,000 kilometers of shore line. And only 35 people live here.
The northeast of Greenland is home to the largest national park in the world. The area is unique because it contains practically all of Greenland's animal and plant species. It covers over 972,000 square kilometers, most of which is covered by the Ice Sheet. In the summer, only the coastline regions are ice-free. The staff at four weather stations and the Sirius Patrol are the only persons who can access Greenland's National Park. This makes it a particularly unique type of national park due to its size and restricted access. In association with biological or geological missions, scientists and researchers may pay visits during the summer. A few cruise ships, but not many, make their way to the National Park. Along the coast of the National Park, there are several remnants of historic Inuit communities. The earliest settlements are said to have existed 4,500 years ago. Inuit migrated from what is now Canada in waves; while the majority moved south along the west coast, some groups moved up and down the east coast of Greenland.
