Aasivissuit-Nipisat

A new UNESCO World Heritage site in West Greenland showcases a stunning natural landscape with over 4,000 years of human history and cultural heritage.
In 2018, Greenland got its third UNESCO World Heritage Site, Aasivissuit-Nipisat, an Inuit hunting area located at the Polar Circle in West Greenland. Here, you find remnants of more than 4,000 years of human history. You can experience archaeological sites with remains of Paleo-Inuit and the later Inuit cultures, as well as a cultural history that can be linked to climate, medicine, and navigation. The entire area extends from Nipisat near Sisimiut on the coast to Aasivissuit by the Ice Sheet ice near Kangerlussuaq. Covering seven unique regions, each region comes with an incredible history.
