The Ilulissat Town Museum, formerly a teachers’ college and home of local ministers, opened in 1973. It showcases permanent exhibitions on the first floor, covering prehistoric life, urban history, and fishing practices. It also features the works of Jette Bang and Knud Rasmussen, the latter being born in this very building. The second-floor houses exhibitions on Greenlandic national clothing and changing topics. The museum's surroundings also serve as an Open Air Museum displaying traditional Greenlandic equipment and tools.
