Hiking Along the Icefjord (Ilulissat)
On this guided hike, you’ll experience the Ilulissat Icefjord from some of the area’s most spectacular viewpoints as we make our way through the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The trail leads through varied terrain of rocky outcrops, mountain lakes, and Arctic vegetation, where giant icebergs provide a breathtaking backdrop throughout the journey. Along the way, your guide shares fascinating insights into the area’s geology, wildlife, and the people who have lived along the Icefjord for thousands of years.
We also pass the historic settlement of Sermermiut, where successive Inuit cultures lived for more than 4,000 years. Here, nature and cultural history come together, and the sweeping views of the Icefjord make it easy to understand why people chose to settle in this remarkable place.
The hike is taken at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to enjoy the silence, take photos, and stop for short breaks along the way. It’s an ideal excursion for anyone who wants to experience the Ilulissat Icefjord on foot while venturing beyond the area’s most frequently visited trails.
