The first Church on the American continents!
Thorhildur’s Church was the first Christian church on both the American continents, built about 500 years before Columbus "discovered" America. You can see the horseshoe-shaped outline of the original church next to the current church.
Not far away, you can also visit a reconstruction of the church. The church is small but bears witness to more than a thousand years of Christianity in the area.
