The road to controversy! Or it used to be as the road leads to the controversial site of the now defunct Kuannersuit Mine.

Kuannersuit (often referred to by its Danish name Kvanefjeld) is a mineral-rich mountain in Narsap Ilua (Dyrnæs in Danish). In recent years, Kuanneersuit has been at the center of a heated debate because a mining company wanted to open a mine here, with one of the so-called byproducts being uranium. However, a new law has prevented this from happening.

Before, Kuannersuit was more famous for its rare gemstone, Tuttupit.

Kuannersuit doesn't look like much - at least not compared to one of its neighboring mountains, Ilimaassaaq. However, the whole area is a hiker's paradise, and you may even get to say "moooooh" to some of the cows grazing there.
