South Greenland
Tunulliarfik - Eiriksfjord/Skovfjorden
An amazing fjord with astoundingly different views for you to explore along the way!
This main fjord connects Narsarsuaq, Qassiarsuk, Igaliku, and Narsaq and leads toward Qaqortoq.
This fjord is where Erik the Red arrived in 982. He looked around and decided to call the new land Greenland, and part of the fjord was Eiriksfjord among the Norse.
It's a long fjord, and, actually, Tunulliarfik is just the northern part of a much longer fjord which in Danish is called Skovfjorden, "The Foresty Fjord." Apart from the towns and settlements already mentioned, along the fjord are several sheep farms. Many of the hills, especially on the northern side of the fjord on the Narsaq Peninsula, are great for hiking, and it is possible to hike from Nasarsuaq to Narsaq in a few days.
