Nuugaarsuk - Strygejernet Mountain

Nuugaarsuk - Strygejernet Mountain

Iconic mountain landmark

In the tradition of naming places after what they look like, this landmark mountain is named Strygejernet (The Iron) in Danish as it looks like an old-fashioned clothes iron. It's Greenlandic name is Nuugaarsuk.

At the foot of the mountain, you find great fishing and the perfect place for camping and hiking!

A fishing trip to Ilua, which is right next to Nugaarsuk, is quite special, with a lake, waterfall, and great fishing opportunities. Ilua lies at the foot of the Nugaarsuk mountain. On the other side of Ilua, there is a beautiful waterfall. People from Narsaq like to go here because angling for trout and salmon is good.

There is also a popular farm holiday place nearby.
