South Greenland
Village of Igaliku (Gardar)
Originally founded by the Norse, the place was known as Gardar, and the remains of the Norse are very visible everywhere.
Igaliku is a village not far from Narsarsuaq. Around 30 people live here today all year round, but in summer, Igaliku has become the place to go for people from the capital of Nuuk.

Here, in the former Norse settlement of Gardar, you will find ruins, including the diocesan seat of the Norse. In 2000, an ecumenical service was held to commemorate 1,000 years of Christianity in Greenland and Leif Eriksson's discovery of the North American mainland.
