An airport with a 1,500-meter instrument runway is under construction and scheduled to be opened in the fall of 2025. The runway is positioned to allow for a future 1,799-meter extension. There will be an approximate 6.5 km road from the airport to Qaqortoq town. All types of aircraft currently used within Greenland are anticipated to be able to use the airport, as well as aircraft with a capacity of 70 to 100 passengers from international locations like Iceland and Iqaluit.
