Whales can be found in Disko Bay, particularly around Ilulissat Ice Fjord and Qeqertarsuaq. Common species include humpback, minke, fin, and bowhead whales.

The humpback whale is especially easy to recognize, with its humped fin and white back on the tail when it dives. Despite its grand size, the humpback whale is able to throw itself out of the water and turn its tail and fins, making it a wonderful sight to behold for anyone watching.
